The Bonne Terre Mines - Bonne Terre, Missouri
Named one of National Geographic’s Top 10 Adventures the Bonne Terre Mines will offer you a world you have never thought existed. Not only is the mine an interesting place but there is the Billion Gallon Lake with its crystal clear water giving you a view of the many different faucets of the mining world.
You can take a boat tour or a walking tour of the mine. There is a lighted walkway for you to spend the hour and 1/2 with the guide learning about the mine and seeing the beauty. You can also take the boat tour which will take you on the Billion Gallon Lake where you will be able to see 100 feet at all times because the water is so clear. It is the home of the world’s largest inland SCUBA resort.
It is open year round. During the months of May - September it is open from 9 - 4 and during the winter the mine is open of Fri, Sat. and Sunday from 9 to 4. You will be delighted that you took the time to stop in and take the tour.
