The Imperial Palace - A Parliment That Carries A Significant Quantity Of History

At first a medieval castle, which to now only has the castle chapel to display its medieval past, these days the complex is home to the National Library, Imperial Treasure, Museum of Ethnograghy, houses a collection of weapons, musical instruments and the recognized Spanish School.
Its past furthermore extends further as it has had various powerful people in Austria’s significant past. A number of of these including: rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Habsburg dynasty. In addition, this was also the place of birth of Marie Antoinette in 1755.
In addition, the famous Empire of the Habsburgs was ruled from the Imperial Palace for more than several centuries.
Nowadays however, it officially stands as the house of the President of Austria. Also the Vienna Boys’ Choir performs in the Gothic Imperial Chapel during High Mass on Sunday as a remains of the Imperial Palace centuries ago.
Interestingly though, one night in November 1992, a significant fire began in the Hofburg, which resulted in a portion of the upper floor and roof being burnt down entirely. Renovations were in place and later fulfilled in 1997 where the newly-built division now enclose wall and ceiling paintings.
