Guide to Pleasant Journey - Cruise Ship Deals

Your Luxury cruise - Cruises Deals

Cruise ships are not commonly thought of as family vacation vessels. However, there are a fair amount of cruises, like Carnival’s “fun ships” targeted at fulfilling just this purpose. You know the kids are not going that far, unless of course they have gone overboard. Also, there is a little bit of something for everyone in all age groups. From adults, to teens, to kids, there is are coordinated activities as well as focused facilities for all of the different age groups. You can rest assured that no one will be bored on a family cruise.

Choosing cruise ship deals wisely.

For parents there are the usual activities. Your rest, relaxation and rejuvenation is certainly the focus and you can spend all the time you’d like lounging by the pool or on the deck, as well as making appointments for a massage or facial. There is plenty of evening recreation for once the kids are in bed, and it varies from ship to ship. There are also great opportunities for socializing and networking, and it is a good idea to have either a small notebook on hand, or at least copies of your card to give to new friends and contacts. There are also wine tasting groups, exercise rooms and nightclubs are on the adults only agendas for most family cruises.

For kids, there are all kinds of activities on board family cruises. From special times in the pool, to special gym classes, the kids are at least seemingly the focus on a family cruise. There are also children’s centers focused on entertaining the kids and keeping them busy while the adults enjoy their alone time. There are craft activities and fully certified staff to work with your most precious commodities: your kids.

If you have older kids, there are also teen centers on board some cruise ships. In fact Coca-Cola recently teamed up with the Carnival cruise line to bring exciting new teen centers to their fun ships. These teen centers have been created out of extensive market research and include dance floors, jukebox listening stations, a mock bar with non-alcoholic specialty drinks and space for the teens to just hang out. This is a revolutionary concept, since teens are a previously untapped market in terms of cruise line focus marketing. Teens are also more likely to find things that they enjoy in the ports of call than will younger kids, simply because they are more independent.

One reason that cruises are a great idea for family vacations is that most of the costs are included in the base price of the trip. While you are on the ship, things like meals and activities are for the most part covered. This is great because you do not have to give per diems to your kids and you can know up front how much your vacation is going to cost. Of course, you will want to have extra money on hand for when you leave the ship and get to do some real travel.

Ready for a cruise? Then read these vacation packing checklist tips.

Rome Fun

Many people think that Rome is a unique city and that Roman people are incredible. Incredible people that you can only love because of one characteristic that always arouses great sympathy for them: their dialect. With a funny accent and vocabulary mildly sounding Italian, the Romanesco language causes many giggles amongst Italian speaking tourists.

This dialect is one of the most popular dialects in Italy, made famous by various films. Here’s a quick historical overview: the so called “Romanesco” dialect, known to most by this word (some use the word “romano”), has experienced a rapid spread between the 1920s and 1930s, a moment when the heavy migration flux brought the population of native Romans to be numerically smaller than the immigrants. A few years later, in the 50s and 60s, a similar phenomenon occured, because of migration flows from the central and southern part of the country. The ’70s and ’80s led, instead, a profound change to the dialect, impoverished because of social twisting in the popular neighbourhoods (Trastevere, San Lorenzo, Testaccio), where the dialect was spoken fluently and whose version is part of the real heart of Rome. So, in those years, ‘Romanesco’ began to be in decline. But there is also another cause of “death” of the dialect in the capital: the cinema movement called “neorealism” (from 1950), in whose films always displayed the presence of “Romanesco speakers”, conveyed the message of the Romanesco language being a poor language of peasant and low education.

Today, the Roman dialect is spoken fluently by the inhabitants of Rome and its surroundings, especially in informal situations. Today the closest version to the “original” is the version spoken in the city. Just a little bit far form the capital and it changes and another dialect is spoken, the “laziale”.

So what would Rome be without Romanesco? This is a language that even some foreign tourists on holiday (staying in one of the available apartments (appartamenti a Roma)) can recognize. A holiday in the city is also reminded in these “social” aspects, in the behaviour and habits of people who populate the capital. In order to find the ideal accommodation, have a look for a nice hotel (Roma hotel) or apartment (appartamenti a Roma).

And to finish, here are some examples of typical Romanesco phrases (without “translation”…you have to go to Rome to understand the meaning): “m’ha sgamato”, “‘na cifra”, “famo er vento”, “s´è apparecchiato pe´ ttera”, “buzzicona”…

Berlin Events

Having more than 15.000 members, the Hertha BSC is one of the biggest sporting clubs in Berlin and even though it has more sectors, the club is mostly known for its football.

The Hertha BSC was founded on the 25th July 1892 as BFC Hertha 1892. After it merged with the Berliner Sport Club (BSC) in 1923 they got the name they are known for today.
Therefore, the history of the club goes back for more than 116 years.

The colours of the club are blue and white and their home matches take place at the Berliner Olympiastadion which has enough space for 74.500 people. You can visit the stadium every day except on days where events take place of course. If you participate in a 90-minute tour through the stadium you have the chance to see the changing rooms and the VIP-area. You can find the stadium at Hanns-Braun-Straße Friesenhaus and you can easily get there by all of the public transport.

Beside football, the Hertha BSC also has sectors for bowling, boxing and ping-pong.
The most famous players of the club might be the captain Arne Friedrich as well as Kaká from Brazil. The coach is Lucien Favre from Switzerland.

Everyone can become a member of the club and therefore become a ‘Herthaner’. Just sign in on the homepage. You have to pay a small amount of money per month which is used for sponsorships. You will get a lot of discounts and other advantages. For example, you get 10% off on tickets and a special advantages for getting a seasonal ticket. Furthermore, you will get a discount of 10% for all fan goods and you will get all important news about the club.
Some well known people like Guildo Horn, Dirk Nowitzki and Barbara Schöneberger are already members. If you want to see the dates of training or matches you should take a look at their homepage.

Since the Olympiastadion is one of the most important sights in Berlin anyway, you should take the chance and watch a Hertha BSC match if you are visiting the city. Inform yourself about the accommodation (Unterkünfte Berlin) options so theat you can start your journey without any worries. If you travel in a group, an apartment (Ferienwohnung Berlin) is a very good idea. There you can all sit together in one room, something you can’t do in a Hotel Berlin that easily. It’s much better than separating your group and an apartment is also cheaper than a hotel.

A Cruise Ship Opportunity: What To Expect On Your Sea Trip

Cruise ship vacations certainly have appeal - they’re exotic, allow you to see multiple cities and ports, are almost all-inclusive and they offer a wide range of activities for family members of all ages.

If you’re curious about cruise vacations and cruise travel, but want to learn more about what you can expect, keep reading to find out the answers to common cruise ship vacation questions.

Are cruises really all-inclusive?

Typically, no - cruises are not all-inclusive. A ticket on a cruise ship usually includes your cabin, meals and some drinks. In addition to these costs, you will need to pay for any shore excursions, alcoholic drinks, spa treatments, extra snacks, certain special activities and your transportation to and from the port of departure.

Do I need to carry cash?

Normally, you can enjoy a cruise line voyage without concern over whether your MasterCard will work or of carrying lots of cash or traveler’s checks. Most cruise vacations allow you to sign and bill most items to your account.

At most, you’ll need a small amount of money for daily tips and services, though even this is rare as most ships have shifted to digital invoicing technology.

Can I come and go as I please?

For the most part, no - you’ll be beholden to the ship’s shore schedules and dining times. However, while many ships have set dining times and activity schedules, other lines - like Norwegian - offer freestyle cruising that allows you to eat when you please and engage in entertainment at your leisure.

Whether you’re on a freestyle or scheduled cruise destination, you will be restricted as to how much time you have at each port of call. Typically though, travelers are given one or two days at each land destination.

How do I find the right cruise vacation for me?

First, ask yourself who’s going on the cruise? Are you looking for a romantic anniversary celebration or a family fun free-for-all with all the kids?

Some cruises cater to children and families while others focus on seniors. Some center around singles while others attract couples. You get the idea - whatever your demographic, there’s a cruise for you.

Cruises also cater to interests. If you’re passionate about rock climbing, there’s a cruise for you and if you love golf, well then there’s definitely a cruise for you. Theme cruises are another great way to find an almost all-inclusive vacation that fits your interests.

Our Best Family Vacation Spots

Have you ever thought about getting away from the same kind of vacation spots that everyone takes and to try something new and different? Many of the places where many people go are popular because they are fun and exciting and when many people experience the same vacation you can feel a bond to them and have something to discuss, however the flip side to all of this is that popular sights can get crowded and expensive. We decided to look for something different for our vacation this year. Some of our vacation spots are below

If you’re visiting Orlando, Florida, you probably have a trip to Universal Studios on your list, and therefore may decide to skip MGM Studios, and however you may find that – especially if you have younger children – MGM is a better alternative as there are less attractions with height restrictions than Universal. Although there are a few more thrill-seeking rides, most of the MGM Studio park is at a more gentle pace making it one of the vacation spots.

Whether your family is involved in the history of the American Civil War or not, Gettysburg is an interesting place to visit. Many of the names such as Cemetery Hill, and Devil’s Den are familiar from Hollywood’s adaptation of history, but here at Gettysburg you can separate the fiction from the fact, and see how life really was for the men who fought and died here.

There’s more to see at Kennedy Space Center than just the space shuttle launching however. There are exhibitions of rockets and spacecraft from the years when space travel was in its infancy. There are rides to simulate space travel for those with the nerve to try. There’s the launching pad area where Apollo 11 was once launched placing men on the moon for the first time. There are tours of the site, which are narrated and have photo stops. Two must see parts of the Kennedy Space Center experience however are the Imax theatre presentations (capture the thrill of a close-up launch in the “The Dream is Alive” feature), and then the Astronaut Encounter where an astronaut takes to the stage to talk about traveling in space, and also answer questions from the audience – a great experience for any families who have a budding astronaut in their party

Divided between two states, with Colorado having the majority holding, Dinosaur National Monument is a “must see” park for anyone interested in Dinosaurs, and especially any family with a budding paleontologist in their midst. Dinosaur National Monument is a “in the field” museum, which shows ancient history in the shape of the Dinosaur remains that have been, uncovered there, the Indian art that was discovered and also the more modern history of settlers. It’s a unique experience to record for your vacation photo album.

Scuba Dive With A Buddy For Safety And Satisfaction

So you have your scuba certification, your gear, and a GREAT dive location - Now all you need is a diving buddy.

Sure, you could go ahead and do a solo dive, enjoying the peace and serenity. But diving with a buddy provides an unequaled opportunity to share your diving experience, which many have found to be ever so much more satisfying than diving alone.

Diving with a buddy also heightens the safety of the dive, as well as the pleasure. When diving with a buddy, you can watch out for one another in a way that makes scuba diving much more safe and secure for both of you.

Here are some tips in choosing and diving with a buddy:

When choosing a scuba diving buddy, the best choice will be to dive with someone who is similar to you in size and in physical ability, so you will both consume air at a comparable rate, and have a compatible pace throughout the dive.

Before your dive, discuss with your buddy the entry and exit points to use at your chosen dive site. Agree with your buddy upon a maximum duration for the dive, or a minimum air pressure. Then you will be able to keep pace with one another better.

Always establish a contingency plan with your buddy in case of different kinds of emergency. For example, in case the two of you get separated, agree to search for no more than one minute and then surface.

Of course it is wise to plan to stick together during your dive, keeping one another in clear view, and never being more than a few feet apart from each other. Be sure to glance over at your buddy approximately every 60 seconds, looking to see if he or she seems to be comfortable and enjoying the dive.

When you keep a frequent and consistent view of your buddy and their situation, you will be much more likely to pick up on any signs of trouble quickly, should they occur.

If you decide to stop or to change your course, always alert your buddy of your intention.

Before your dive, review with your buddy the communication signals you will be using. This is particularly important because it will be impossible to verbally explain yourself when you’re under 40 feet of water! You can also try Shark Cage Diving

Even if you and your buddy plan to use some of the more advanced communication equipment for your dive, for safety purposes it is still wise to recognize the most common hand signals and be prepared to use them. You never know when and if equipment might fail, and you or your buddy might need to be able to communicate something urgent, such as, “I’m out of air! Buddy breathing needed!”

A good place to view illustrations of common hand signals online is the ‘Active Divers Association’. It probably wouldn’t hurt to periodically review the hand signals shown in your diving certification material as well.

If you need to get your buddy’s attention during your dive, rap on your tank with a rock or with the end of your dive knife. Another technique is to ’scream’ lightly into your regulator. It sounds really interesting, and it will carry for quite a long distance underwater. You can also try Shark Cage Diving

When it’s time to dive, help each other suit up. Besides being easier, when you help each other suit up it builds camaraderie and trust, both important in scuba diving. Scuba is an inherently dangerous activity that could result in serious injury or death. Proper training and equipment are vital to have before even attempting a dive. Diving with a trusted buddy adds a measure of security that can often make ‘THE’ difference for a safe and enjoyable dive.

One last thing - Never, never, never leave your buddy. No matter how intriguing the mystery hidden just around the corner, it’s never worth swimming off and getting separated from your dive buddy - even for a moment.

After your dive, plan to spend just a little time with your buddy and talk about the dive. Not only will you enjoy going over the highlights of your shared experience, but you and your buddy will be able to get and give feedback which can enhance the safety and the satisfaction of your next dive as well. Your How To Guide to Cheap Cruise Tickets

Cheap cruise tickets

If you though finding cheap cruise tickets was a daunting task, think again. It’s not as hard as you think to find discounted cruises, especially if you search online. Because there is a service fee involved, your nearest travel agent is the last place you should visit to find cheap cruise tickets.

Here are some steps to follow when looking for cheap cruise tickets.

1. Firstly, you need to understand cruise lines lingo, like guaranteed staterooms, singles supplement and run-of-the-ship

2. Secondly, in order to save money, you need to book via cruise booking sites, which will charge you an even lower rate, compared to booking through main cruise lines sites which will charge you a higher cabin rate.

3. For the best discounts, check with large vacation suppliers, or cruise booking sites, they are directly linked to the cruise lines’ inventory database and can put together a cruise package just for you. They also receive the latest stateroom information, which means they know in advance about cabin inventory deals, and can pass them directly on to you. This is the best place to get cruise deals.

4. Once you understand what the online suppliers have to offer, you may avail discounts that range from anything between 20-60% depending on the season, itinerary, and cruise ship itself.

Finding the right cruise:

5. Always look out for inaugural cruises, just like any company introducing a new brand in the market, cruise lines offer huge discounts for inaugural cruises, because they rely heavily on word of mouth. This form of ‘advertising’ is far more valuable than media promotions. And most cruise lines recover many times the amount that they lose on inaugural discounts.

6. Because not all cruise destinations are uniformly in demand in all seasons, most of them operate cruises all year. What happens then is that cruise lines send ships from one area to another to meet the demand.

So as the Caribbean slows down in late spring and summer, the European cruises begin to reach their peak season, and ships from the Caribbean are sent to European and Mediterranean ports.

Still not sure why we are telling you this, well this is where you come in. Cruise lines would rather charge unbelievably low prices to fill these ships than to leave them empty as they travel across the world. They have to pay staff anyway and at the same time have them take care of you in luxury and style, makes perfect sense!

Be on the lookout for last-minute specials online. Many travel suppliers offer special search tools and last-minute email alerts so you can book your last-minute cruise with very little effort. Thus you won’t be disappointed when you call the travel agency only to find out the last cabin was just booked by a couple going on there honeymoon and will be doing vacation photos online, enjoying the fun.
